The Cottages at Erie Village
While many Boulder County homeowners were doing snow shovel duty this week, residents of The Cottages at Erie Village chose to spend their time holiday shopping, visiting friends or just relaxing by the fireplace.
The community’s low-maintenance lifestyle has made it a very desirable address for active families who enjoy all the good things that life has to offer.
Erie Village, built by Boulder Creek Builders, is a classic slice of Americana, with mature trees and picket fences that line a street of colorful Victorian and Craftsman homes, each with a welcoming front porch, set-back garages and private patio space. Three ranch and three two-story designs provide diversity and flexibility, ensuring that your home will reflect the way you live today. Inviting pocket parks and extensive hiking trails await your exploration, and the Erie community center and city library are just minutes away. For many families, it’s proven to be a perfect fit.
“We looked all over the Front Range before choosing Erie Village,” say Anne and Bill Treloar. “Our two sons are on their own now, and we wanted the freedom of a smaller home. We like the small community and HOA and its rural quality, but it’s still in Boulder County so we have the benefits of a great location. Once we retire, we’re planning on spending our winters in California, so the security and ease of a low-maintenance home is a big factor in our decision.”
The Treloars, who will move into their new Boulder Creek home in March, chose the Nantucket floor plan for its efficient, main-floor living. The popular plan features over 2,300 finished square feet, with a master suite, great room, kitchen, dining room and second bedroom on the main level and a finished lower level with rec room and additional bedroom. “We wanted everything on one floor; we’re tired of stairs,” Anne says with a laugh.
“Our last home had a good-sized lot, and we were hoping to preserve that spacious feeling. Our new home connects to open space right behind us, and we have mountain views. And one of the best things is, everything is new! We were able to pick out everything we wanted – the cabinets, counter tops and finishes, and a two-car garage. Bill enjoys cooking, so a very workable kitchen was important. We got to choose some high-end appliances and a convection oven,” Anne explains.
Every home in Erie Village is constructed to Built Green standards, which was also tops on the Treloar’s list. The inside environment is protected by low-VOC paints and finishes. Carpets are made of recycled materials, and are tacked down rather than glued, to help protect the quality of the air you breathe. All standard appliances have earned the rating, chosen for their superior efficiency.
The Treloars report that their home buying experience went smoothly. “They’ve been good to work with. There was never any pressure, they were always up front with us, and they were quite willing to work with us to make a few changes, like a larger patio.”
