I'll Be Home For Christmas

“I’ll be home for Christmas, if only in my dreams…..”

Here we are two days before Christmas 2008. How many people are not going to be at home for Christmas this year? How many people don’t have a home to be at this year? When I think of the homeless I tend to  think of those solitary individuals who have no family or are at odds with their families and have  become homeless. This year saw record number of whole families becoming homeless.

Unfortunately, in this down economy people have less to give to charitable organizations and so already strained resources become even more scarce while the need continues to grow.

There are so many worthy charities and organizations but one I particularly like is Toys for Tots. I know Christmas is not about the presents but it breaks my heart to think some child is convinced Santa has forgotten or forsaken him or her. Or if that child thinks Santa can’t locate them at the homeless shelter…
